Are your Natural Hair Products too Heavy?

By January 10, 2020Thank God Im Natural

While some curl types love thick, heavy, creamy products, for some, it can weigh hair down tremendously. Typically looser and thinner hair textures do better with lightweight lotions, and sprays. Keep reading to find out if your hair products are weighing your hair down.

Hair feels weighed down

If after you apply your leave-in, if your hair looks and feels weighed down long after you applied your product, chances are you are either applying too much product, or the product you are using is too thick for your hair. After applying your product, your hair should be able to move freely and not feel heavy.

Hair looks/feels greasy

Wet look aside, if days after you apply your hair product you don’t need to refresh or add water, and your hair looks and feels greasy, your product is probably too heavy for your hair type. Natural hair is naturally on the drier side as it takes longer for the oils that our scalp naturally produces to travel down curls, kinks, and coils of natural hair, greasy looking hair is a good indication that your product is too heavy for your hair.
